Idk, i just have a thing against smiters that use grief/lw/fort/all those higher end things, because they always think it's necessary to have decent/really good items to do an uber, when you don't at all. I suppose storm lash would be just as good, but that thing is as common as grief so your choice. I know people dont need grief, however I find grief as a necessity for smiter, fastest smite speed + insane self heal and easy pickings after crushing blow deals no damage.
Still need more? 1 point in light resistance aura and switch it on for mephisto, losing 2 more seconds in killing speed vs not even dieing is well worth it. If you need resistance and cheap way, smoke is ideal. if you need attack speed from treachery sure go for it, ideally you would want to make it in AP but breast plate will do just as good.
